I got permission to detect some property along the Neuse River here in Wake County and have been hunting an early 1800's plantation site that I know has been detected over the years. A guy that lives on the property showed me the remains of a stone foundation nearby on the property and I got started scouting it right away. My first signal was a keyhole cover and second target was a nice knee buckle frame. Based on the finds I would guess that this site is late colonial. I really got excited about the possiblities with this site being virgin and based on the number of good signals I'd say it is. I only spent about 2 hours hunting it but can't wait to get back to see what else I can dig up.

Yes it looks like you have a late 18th-early 19th century site there. That is a great time period for early US relics and coins. Nice finds this time, good luck next time!

Very nice! Can't wait to see what else you dig up from that site!

I dug a bunch of these rose head forged nails too. Pretty sure they are at least late 18th century.

Looking promising, keep at it...

Thanks everyone for the comments. I am eager to get back out to this site and see what else turns up. Maybe I can sneak out one afternoon this week.

You are going to find something great at that site. As you know 88% of my best finds have come from the edge of rivers with great history. Every single piece of colonial silver I've found has been with 40 feet of the water. I'm a believer in these sites. Can't wait to see what you find there. I'm excited for ya man

Nice! Looks like lots of potential for sure.
