Lucky, (dirt still not hard in cold country) got out today with Freddy67. About 6 hours of dig time.

Left at 9 am, got permission by 10 am.
Fred said he had wanted a "ship" coin, I told him quite a few (tokens) have a ship on them, you'll get one.
Sure enough he does, a 1843 New Brunswick Half Penny, Not bad shape either (sorry no pic.)
I got an 1813 George III One Stiver at the first site, this is the first full one penny of this type I got, though I have a half penny version from a few years back, and a couple 1838 One Stivers.

Went back to see the farmer, whom I gave a couple of similar dug coins from last year, he was happy, and we were off to site number 2. More new dirt, mucky, dirty, sticky, kind of dirt. This is where I got my Navy Lieutanant Button. Kind of a surprise really as is near the middle of nowhere. and about the last target of the day pull up a "blob" of lead, but wiping the muck off I see something... A shield in the middle and decorated around the edge, Anyone have any idea ?

Also a pewter "star" I doubt anything special, but cool find.

Pics.

Group shot.

DANNG WHAT NEET LOOKING NAVY BUTTONS...................

Its funny, I've recently seen a military button show up in the middle of nowhere recently, but can't put my finger on where that was. ....
It's good to be out this time of year

Really nice assortment of finds and it's great to be digging at this time of the year.

Nice oldies...

You picked a winner, that spot looks to have some mojo! Hope you've got a few more weeks...

Great hunt Rick.
Love the 1812 button. Big on my list.
And does the thing have a lead back? I found a few of them, thought they were fancy rosettes.

Congrats on the military and coins...Hope you can get info on the blob... We are just lucky to be digging this time of year....

The thing looks like a pendulum bob for a clock. Nice hunt.

Killer hunt Rick!

Gilt or not you still snagged one. Has been a very long time since I've dug one of those crowned Navy buttons.

Nice button...I really hate our corrosive soil!

Don't worry too much about freeze up...the forecast is calling for one of the warmest winters on record this year...I think we could be digging all year!

I know a few years ago you got in a hunt every month didn't you?
I'm sure you'd take it again!

So far in my MD career I got one only hunt in January, and none ever in Feb.

Yes first word of my post.
I do hope for an ID, Vino may be right saying rosett ? it appears as it was silvered once upon a time. I must clean off the back, I'm thinking it has 4 attachment points rather than 2 found on most rosetts.

Slick Rick in the house in the Hizzy..
Love that button bro:headbang:
Early coin also sounds like a good day keep at it buddy.

Yes at least I got one, I think the only military of the year. It's just natural to wish for a little better condition.
