New E-Trac Owner

Well, I finally took the big plunge today and ordered an E-Trac and a Sunray X-1 probe. I considered other detectors (primarily the Fisher F75, Whites M6, Whites Vision & Explorer SE Pro), but I decided I'd have the most fun with the E-Trac. It's a big jump technologically from the Whites detector I used 24 years ago. Gonna take a while to learn it. I've been out of the detecting game for a few decades. So I'm a bit - sorry about this one - rusty. lol

In the middle of this past winter the detecting bug bit me again - hard. In order to appease the bug, I bought a used Fisher CZ-7a in excellent condition for just 50 bucks. It was like new because it was hardly ever used. What a great deal. However I couldn't use it because Ohio was frozen solid. I took it out one day and got a good signal, but I couldn't dig the target because the ground was too hard. That was the shortest hunt of my life. I spent the rest of winter investigating forums like this one. After reading so much about the new crop of detectors, I decided to get one and sold the Fisher. Long story short...I got an E-Trac on the way. Look out, silver. Here I come.

Alright GibsonDan, I'm waiting for mine also, ordered it a couple off days ago and I can't handle the wait. I even came home early today expecting to see if arrived yet, god it's driving me nuts.
I even got out my old Garrett and tried on the frozen ground, got a bunch of hits but all trash, man I wish it would hurry up, Charlie

I've never been so exited in my life. I even called them today to see if it was shipped yet, it's driving me crazy. Do you think I've got the bug yet? Ha! Ha!

congrats on picking the e-trac.... where did you get it if i may ask? also why did you decide on it? why not the new whites.. just curious.. i love my e-trac by the way... you'll love yours too... :thumbsup:

Hey , I just want to tell you that you should be excited! The etrac is a silver hoarder! I cant believe the depth and accuracy of this machine...Go to my thread at the top of this forum and hang out there for great information and shared settings for your etrac! Its under The "share your etrac settings here" thread. Together, we will learn much faster...mike

I chose the E-Trac because I think I'll have the most fun with it. I also like Minelab's cutting edge technology. I believe I'm going to have a great time digging up silver. I like White's too and thought about getting an M6 or Vision. I think the Vision is going to be a great detector. But, for me, the E-Trac had the edge and interested me more. Personal preference.

I'll check out your thread, Mike. Glad you like your E-Trac. Looking forward to sharing settings and info.

Right now in Ohio the sun is shining. I'm looking out the window as I type and see a blue sky with no clouds. It's a bit cool but will warm up some by noon. Great day for detecting. Today is Monday and my E-trac is due to arrive tomorrow. Man. I wish I had the detector today. I'd be out hunting right now instead of typing. Reading the "Today's Finds" section really got me amped up.

Gees!! gibsondan, how can you be getting yours tomorrow and mine won't be here till the 1st, it's not fair I'm bummed, I ordered mine on the 24th, shipped on the 25th and I've anxiously been waiting since then. Charlie

I bribed UPS...didn't you? heh-heh. I don't know why you aren't getting yours first. I ordered the day after you did. Maybe it has something to do with Ohio being closer to Florida than Maine. Or maybe your shipment has more shipping points before it arrives in Maine. I don't know. I hope yours arrives soon.

I even ordered the Explorer & E-Trac Handbook on the 22nd and that's not even here yet, I was planning on reading it before I recieived my E-Track. I better call them, Charlie

Yes! Call them. Have the guy you bought it from call too! It usually takes 2-3 days for my clients to get theirs. We are on the east coast too. Call and speak with Gloria or Trina They are very helpful...Also, you guys, DON'T forget to mail in you warranty cards! Very important! ...mike

Thanks, Mike. Today is the day my E-trac is supposed to arrive. Got home from work a half hour ago (It's 2:27 p.m. as I type these words.) No detector yet. Just checked UPS's website. It's here in town but hasn't been delivered yet. Still waiting.

Ten minutes after my last post there was a knock at the door. UPS. My E-trac arrived! I assembled it and loaded it with batteries. Thanks to Andy Sabisch's book, I quickly made a few changes. I changed the Tone ID from "Multi" to 4 tones. Then I changed the pinpointing from "Normal" to "Sizing." Why? Personal preference. I planned on hunting a local park that is old and still well used. There's a lot of trash. So I put the detector in the "High Trash" mode. As I was driving to the park, dark clouds threatened rain. I detected for maybe 10 minutes and it started to sprinkle. Bummer. However, in that 10 minutes I got an opportunity to hear the tones. I got one high tone and it turned out to be a Pepsi screwcap. I think the numbers were 13-35. The detector ran nice and smooth. No chatter from EMI or anything like that. On auto sensitivity the detector operated at 20 to 22. I switched it to manual sensitivity and cranked it up to 30. I noticed a some brief, intermittent high tones on the back swings but could still detect. I believe the detector would have hit on silver nicely. Just when I was settling down into a search pattern to find those high flutey signals, the rain started to come down. Damn! So I headed for home. I just checked the weather for tomorrow. The temp will get up to 60 and there are supposed to be some a.m. showers. Hopefully the rain will be well over by the time I get home a bit after two o'clock in the afternoon. I should be able to get a few hours of hunting in. Got to find some silver!

You lucky bugger!!! (that's a Scottish word with no disrespect) I am supposed to receive my E-Trac tomorrow so I have to stay home all day to wait and receive it. So it better show up!!!.
Also my book hasn't showed up yet and I ordered that from Andy Sabisch's store a few days before I ordered my E-Trac. I also called them last night and a young fellow answered the phone with loud music in the background and said I should receive it today or tommorow then he hung up on me because he couldn't hear me. I was to impressed with that store so no more ordering there. I didn't arrive today.

No Fair!!!!
I just ordered my Etrac this am.

I will not get mine until next week.
I got mine from Kellyco. Those guys down there esp Tony are "great"
I was going to go with the Vision but Whites will not let them ship them.
In store only sales.
Tony was great and told me the Etrac is deeper then the vision and the pros
and cons of both.
I said lets get the Etrac

:P
Now, I am drooling like a kid on Christmas am!!!
This is going to be a long wait lol.
I will keep looking at how you guys like yours.
