New Farm - Nice keepers (Silver & Buttons)
I received permission Saturday to MD at this beautiful 50 acre farm property that is being sold soon to build houses on.
It is owned by my wife’s old boss (retired). The house you see was his 95 year old father’s house. I’m not sure how old it actually is, but he said it was once a log house, but is now covered in aluminum siding. I know one thing, the wheat pennies I dug were about 12” deep in some cases! The Mighty Tesoro did me proud though.
It was a beautiful day yesterday with temps in the 70’s, slight breeze, shade from the large old oaks, and soft farm soil. Ahhhh.
Within 10 minutes I had my first keeper’s right by the front of the house.
A large 29cm eagle button and a nicely detailed 44’ Merc. Below are my finds for the day. I am welcome to come back whenever I wish, so you can bet I will be.
Finds:
*A nice 44’ Merc dime.
*A large 29cm Eagle button with “Waterbury Button Co. Conn.” on the back mark.
My largest button to date.
Any idea of the age? Post 1900’s?
*A 24cm Eagle button “Waterbury Button Co. Conn.” on the back mark.
Nice gold gilt still on it.
*Six DEEP wheat’s that spanned 5 decades – 191? , 28’ , 31’ , 42’ , 49’ ,56’.
*A 1948 dog vaccine tag.
*A name tag with “Arthur E. Seagroves , Route #3, Durham NC. “
*Asst’s other relics including a very large safety pin (big baby?), lipstick case, glass knob, decorative pieces (Victorian look), etc.
Thanks for looking, and have a great week.
