Well so much for the forecast thunder storms :icon_sunny:

Spent 1 hour on one of our better fields which we haven't tried since harvesting. We were not expecting much as we did it quite well before the crop grow. So we will wait until its ploughed. However, Cru'Dad got a silver 1842 Four Pence & a scrappy (picture 1)

Then we went back to the field where we got the strapend yesterday. Spent 3 hours on this one. Cru'Dad then picked up a silver hammered Sixpence of Elizabeth I 1580 (these larger coins are hard to find, it was a huge amount of money then). I had a ancient Bronze Pin which is either Roman or more likely Iron Age (Celtic) as its very crudely made. No idea what its for :icon_scratch:

Looks like Cru'Dad gave you a good spanking today on the silver!! :whip2: ;D But you sure outdid him yesterday with that Strapend....Awesome find!!!

Those fields are so unpredictable when it comes to the quality of your finds. But the predictability that you will find something suuuper old is a given!!

Congrats,

Thats the good thing about our team, we don't care when we have a bad day (as one of us will do OK). Specially not me as I keep it all. :D

Do you ever wonder if the joy you take in finding it is equal to the anguish felt over the loss of it? No

Could you explain to us in relative terms the amount of money that was? Two-three days wages for 90% of the population at the time. So 2-3 days of our wages today.

Nice finds as always, enjoy your posts! I did a new field today for two hours, just a few 1800s coins, bootuns and a few musket balls, lots of trash. HH, Mike

On second thoughts there has been times in the past when I thought they must have been gutted to lose that! When for example I found a Shilling of Lizy (Loads of money). However the person who lost it was likely to be very rich & would hardly miss it.

Well done Crusader, pleased the weather held for father and yourself.

I managed to get out after the rain stopped.

Doug.
