Metal Detecting
New member living in northern cal I have been hunting treasure for most of my life.I am now using a Garrett 2000 detector I won when I was a member of the Sacramento Valley medal detecting buffs.I have dug up 1000 cash in small change so far and many gold and silver rings.I think I will enjoy this sight along with the other sight I belong to..........Honda Rebel form as I put my detector in my saddle begs and off I go and enjoy both of my hobbies.

Just purchase one myself 2 weeks ago and live out in Folsom, CA. I have found it seem like a unit that will take some time to get used to. I have been using the Jewelry discrimination mode and it has been consistent. I also use a Fisher F2 and find that I get a ton more signals, but I do dig up a TON of trash. With the GTI 2000 I dig up way less trash, but I do wonder what type of treasure I am leaving behind. The ability to see the size of the object is awesome. I do find that surface finds can confuse the GTI 2000 as it often shows them very deep and large. I have tried to use the unit in all metal mode and don't personally care for it yet. Picks up signals everywhere and does not seem to work in areas with any sort of trash. Probably great for relic hunting in places off the beaten path. I would love any tips or a chance to meet and pick up information on how this unit works.

I am contemplating the available upgrade through Garrett for $350 to convert it to the GTI 2500, but will see if I can get used to the weight of the unit first before sinking more money into it. It is on the heavy side. Any thoughts or suggestions you have would be welcome.

Hello and welcome.

Welcome,

My wife is from Sacramento so I have been up in that area a bunch. So many cool areas to metal detect!
