Hello, from Eastern Washington.

I've been metal detecting many years, but only got serious in the past 4 years. I have many finds, a few rings, lots of copper pennies, a few old coins, and a couple million aluminum tabs. I should have kept them, they would have weighed a ton! I'm an older guy, so I frequently detect the soft dirt areas. Playgrounds, beaches, fishing holes. I have dug enough coins to pay for my Garrett AT. Closing in on $500.00 now after 2 years. Now that the weather is getting better, I'm anxious to get out and dig.

Welcome!
Something you wrote brought some ideas to mind.
One, aluminum is getting to be worth enough to save your tabs and cans. I think the cans go for 5 cents, and even the tabs add up.
Second, when you mentioned cents, I thought about a discussion here about dumping the cent at the mint. Hmmm? You know what happens if they do? After a short period to turn them in, cents get demonetized. Wheat cents and copper will remain value for their copper and collectible value. But, zinc cents will be worthless. Now, nice shiny ones will still be wanted by collectors, but the cruddy ones you dig? Trash.
Bad enough now where you have to tumble them, but no value at all?
