Hello,

First post to the site!

I must say that I am hooked now. I bought a cheap detector off of Ebay a couple years ago for about $169. It sat around and I finally decided to use it. I went to a place where an old swimming hole had been dried up due to drought.

My first day I spent about 4 hours... Found a ton of old 70s style pull tabs and about 40 fishing sinkers, a few coins.

The second day I went and within about 45 mins I found a 14K gold ring with a 3 carat white saphire in it. I ended up getting $125 for the ring.

I'm hooked... I'm sure I will be a regular here now.

I already figured out a way to GPS my paths with my phone using an app I downloaded called GPS Essentials and then I can import my paths to Google Earth and that way I can mark out areas I cover.

welcome! just remember that doesn't happen too often! congrats

You didn't mention your state (or country) - but you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting your state for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Welcome from another Austinite. Lake Travis is empty probably plenty to be found in there.

My first MD was a kit that i got through the mail. It was a Relco. I put it together with a solder gun and it worked ok. It loved iron and hated gold. I know it hated gold cuz i never found any with that machine.
