New kid to CRH'ing

Hey guys I'm 15 and have been reading a lot of topics on this very neat forum and went and bought 2 nickel rolls 1 dime roll and 6 penny rolls. Nickels and dimes were both skunk but out of the pennies I got 3 wheats. I know its not much but I was happy to see my first catch :tongue3:

, if you guys have any tips or tricks it would be highly appreciated and thank you for showing me this is a great hobby, and hey it pays for itself :icon_thumright:

Make sure you check out the top post "beginners guide". It will save you a lot of headaches and speed up your learning curve. And always follow the golden rule of don't dump where you buy your coins! That will only lead to problems and unhappy results in the longterm.

Welcome K! My advice, as a newbie myself, Set an achievable goal, say for example, Im going to get $50.00 in silver from August 1-Aug 31. After writing down your goal, GO ALL OUT LIKE A MADMAN and hit that goal!!

Going all out like a madman will reduce your learning curve too, get over the fear of asking and dumping etc. If youre like me, you can read about somthing all day but until you actually go out and do it, its a whole other ballgame. Here's some motivation, I started 2 months ago and have over $500.00 in silver, you can check it out a few posts down with PICS. I have also gone through $25,000+ in coin to get those results, but I did it baby!! Set a goal that's good and achievable for you.....

Repition, repition, patience, repetion. :headbang:

welcome to the forum! lucky you started at such a young age! like said, persistence, is always the key. and also, build your bank roll as fast as possible. i started with $6 dollars, and ever since then, ANY extra cash that doesnt go towards bills, is automatically put into coins. its just how it works. good luck, and hope you find millions of mercs! keep it up and hh! Hi K !!
Good to see someone young start a profitable hobby like CRH.

A few things I have learned....

1. To Coin Roll Hunt (CRH) takes self control and patience.
The self control part is accumulating money to buy coin with and not spending it for other things.
The patience part comes in keeping your silver until you REALLY need it. It will soon, very soon be worth possibly 5 or 10 times what it is right now. If you spend it now you will miss it. Just ask any old timer here.

2. My system has worked on these principles:
A. find good banks to order from. You will begin to see patterns of which banks are producing the best silver.

B. find good banks to dump at. You waste gas money and time if you have to go home without dumping.

C. Never pay fees for accounts, ordering, or dumping.

D. If you don't cozy up to the tellers with candy etc, they have nothing to gain but work from your hobby, so be really upbeat, friendly, positive, and thankful.
Tellers seem to respond to this most of the time. You will gain a few friends among tellers, and they are very useful and profitable friends.

3. Eventually you may want to gain more silver from this hobby. These days it depends largely upon the volume you can turn over.

4. Keep careful records !!
Know how much you are bringing to the bank so that if you are shorted, you will know it.
One lost hundred dollar bill, or undercounted batch of coins will REEAAALLLY
slow you down.

All great advice! A couple things I will add...

1. CWRs aren't necessarily better. Why not? Because a coin wrapping machine doesn't pull out silver coins. Anything could be in a bank box. U can find good stuff anywhere.
2. Try to get $500 so u can start buying half dollar boxes from the bank. SILVER is where the money is in this hobby, not wheat cents. If u find 1 40% silver half, you made $5. If u find 1 wheat you made only 3c.
3. Keep the copper pennies. (pre-82) Open an account on EBay. U can sell them for 1 & 1/2 cents each.
