I'm a new member and new to Metal Detecting. I'm in the La Porte area. Looking for others who may be interested in getting together to show the new guy the ropes. I'm especially interested in learning about the local laws pertaining to metal detecting - want to keep on the up and up.

Welcome Sarge, from Brazos County. Check the city's website, and more than lijely there will be a section on city ordinances. This is where I have found aa lot of info pertaining to detecting on city property.

Thanks for the info i've received so far. It's a place to start the search.
I had no idea how restrictive some of the laws have become regarding MD'ing, until I starting researching to find locations to do it.
