Still floating from this. Was actually creek walking with a buddy and we came across a homesite that he said he's swung on one other time. The rocks were killing my feet so I decided to swing for a bit. NOT 15 mins in bam, thgt it was a can next to the fence and almost didn't dig it. Barely in the grass 2 inches deep. She's a lil scared but she's BEAUTIFUL to me!!!!!!!! Buddy didn't bring his machine so I literally packed up right then and hopefully it doesn't rain too much this week so we can go back next weekend!!!!! They're still out there y'all!!!!!

The rounding of the edges of the hole and its irregularity from round suggests to me that the coin was on a necklace for quite awhile. Amazing coin. I had forgotten that silver dollars were minted that early.

In all fairness she doesn't show a lot of wear but the plow marks are another story lol. She's still a looker!!!

Question for the experts, should I send it to get graded? I know it's gonna get the enviro damage tag but would give an idea where it falls on the scale.It's not going anywhere just doing it for my boys who will get all my crap and they don't have a clue on any of this.

Had a mintage of only 41,650! That's a different level of rarity there! Amazing find!

Due to its rarity I think PCGS would put it in a slab and it would be labeled “genuine”. With the damage and the hole there’s no way it would receive a grade. I wouldn’t bother sending it. I think it is obvious it’s the real deal. Congrats again for an amazing find!👍🏻
