Already scratched tested very deep and acid tested passes test. Just do not know if I should cut all the way through?
 

Might be worth more as a solid piece rather than as scrap. Looks real to me, nice find!

Lookup the makers mark

Markings look to be genuine, can't make out your year mark, 1880-1920 or so.
how did you 'find' it?

No need to scratch it. The hallmarks tell you all you need to know. Don't hurt it's value with destructive tests.
 

Boy that's a chuck of silver there.I don't believe I would melt it down neither.
