DSC09718.webp this was found yesterday in an area just cleared of trees that I thought had maybe never been farmed. I've been hunting there for nearly 40 years and the trees were always there. But as you can see old mister disc has left his mark.

That's a pretty nice one too was it close to tilled soil?
That looks like a pretty solid strike on that thing.. I can't imagine that's good for the farm equipment any possibility that was thrown in there by the farmer?

Its along a fairly big creek that runs just below some of my best hills. which have been farmed for as long as I can remember. I think if it was plowed in the past that the bigger stuff was probably dragged down hill after so many years. I seem to find my celts, axes and camp rocks nearer the bottom at some places. The owner doesn't think the land has been worked since the late 30's.

I find rocks thrown to the side of the fields. I find artifacts thrown to the side of the fields cause people dont see the work on them. The crack might be from weathering also.

A mule and plow could do that kind of work. Great find:icon_thumleft:

Rock, I always look through piles of rocks that farmers have taken from the fields also. Once in awhile you'll find a crude piece. I have found piles that were removed and placed on the field's side because someone had obviously noticed that the stones were worked. They are normally hammer stones and crude agriculture tools, not worth bringing home, but still deserved prevention of further damage. I've also added to some of those piles. I will not leave an obvious artifact to be crumbled. I always make some effort to save an artifact.

NC my best pestle is a cone shaped one that was found in a bunch of rocks by an old well. I always dig through those piles when I find them.
