New Poster

[Get-the-point]

There was a post on here yesterday, it had a beautiful flawless Hardin and a Flawless Dovetail. The Hardin was black and looked like Sonora. These artifacts were posted by a new poster. After reading all the replies, I called them for what I saw in them. They looked Modern. They had no patination and looked too modern for them to be rolling in a river for a couple of thousand years. Anyway I said something about it nicely and was looking forward to hearing from others there opinion, so i go online to see and it is gone. Does anyone know what else was said after my post or did he pull it before anyone else could agree with my opinion. Pretty strange that he did that after my post and does not allow anyone elses feedback or his feedback for that instance......... Keep your collection clean all!!!..........................GTP

GTP - I understand what you're saying about not wanting to let an obvious fake go by without saying something. My only point was that it get tiring telling people time and time again that it's a fake. How many times have we all had someone ask us to look at a point that they 'found'. It's an obvious fake, you bring it up and then they tell you how they actually bought it at a flea market but thought it was real. Why lie? For me it's tiring and I don't want anything to do with it. Same story with the guys who have a 5,000 piece collection with 3 effigy's and 2 grey ghosts at the center. "They're all personal finds" - OK then the points in the middle are fake. "Actually those 5 were a gift from my uncle's neighbor".... Anyone who can't separate truth from fiction (in the presentation not the perception) I have no time for. We all have thought a fake point real and a real point fake. But most of us have never in any way misrepresented the facts even a little around the artifacts in our resprective collections. As Cheese points out credibility is king in the artifact collecting field.

Why anyone would want to test collectors knowledge is besides me. Not like we can tell if its real or not by a pic.
Its just asking for trouble. Its difficult enough keeping this site friendly as it is without those shananagons goin' on.
