The plan got off to a false start with Cru'dad dropping me off for a couple of hours on a field near to the dentist so he could get a filling put back in. The site I tried called 'The Hill' didn't really work out other than a Neolithic Flint.
Then we spend 3.5 hours gridding a new Roman Site. Sadly we only get the Sites we find & not the ones we always want! It was a very low yield site;
Top of a Roman Childs Ring (No stone)
Piece of a Roman Terret Ring (sad it wasn't whole)
Medieval Barrel shaped Leather Mount
8 Scrappies

So with Cru'dad's 5 scrappies he had the other day, it really was a poor site.

I like the flint, very nice

Nice finds, Crusader. It's all relative. Your poor site would meet with zero complaints here across the pond. Thanks for sharing.

You need the kings yard. Nice finds buddy!

Congratualtions on the nice relic and very old coin shooting! GL & HH

That was a nice terret ring.... I like the flint too. Looks like an early to mid neolithic arrow head with the sides only crudely knapped? Here i would date it a bit older between 5-6000BC. :occasion14:
The late roman, very very late, glass is a pretty rare find too.... :laughing7:

Looking at the other side, I would say its another scrapper. But I must admit I'm no good at dating them.

The weird thing is, that Terret is high status but the site was not. Kind of odd.

LOL "Poor Site" Yeah right! Not for us across the pond it wouldn't be! Still some nice finds! Next hunt will be the hoard!

I know but when you are used to Roman Sites with the coin count being 200 - 1500, its a poor site.

Still a fantatic day in my books...how is it for competition where you live?? Many other detectorist??

Most farms we detect have no competition. They only trust us & turn down others. However, this farm has had a small rally on it, once.

Hi, wow those are great finds you found. :icon_thumright: Just finding one of those scrappies on a hunt would make my day

As a few have said in this post, I would be ecstatic to find one of those hammered coins! Perspective is an interesting thing. Thanks for sharing! I like to see what one of your "poor sites" produces!

Have you covered the whole site, or would you revisit it?

Somebodies going around half blind. Lol
Is it the site kind of sucked or you're kind of spoiled? :laughing7:

We gridded at least 90% of the site. The last 2 man hours to get 1 scrappy is not worth our time. Maybe another day when we have less options.

Very spoiled now, I have to make up for the Cru'dad years...lol
