Hey guys, so my fiancee has been hunting a lot more often with me in the woods with one of my other detectors but I only had one larger Lesche shovel. I use the T handle ground shark. Now we know these shovels don't grow on trees so I decided to replicate mine with things I had around my shop. (Also more satisfying than just purchasing another) I used conduit for the handle, cut a 3" exhaust pipe in half for the blade, used a motorcycle foot peg pad for the step and a piece of a sway bar to attach the blade and handle. We have gone on about ten hunts so far and its holding up amazing against the roots and rocks. :headbang: Thanks for checking it out and happy hunting!

That looks better than the original. I have a 28" Ground Shark that I use very little. I almost always use the Sampson.

I have a Sampson Relic digger that I am thinking about cutting down the blade on and making a wider Sampson out of because the blade is a little too long.

Thanks Pointman. I use the 40" do to being 6'3'' it seams to work with me best. The ground shark was actually the only one I saw in that length at the time I purchased as well but Ive grown to like it very much for its tall narrow blade with the roots and rocks. Good luck modifying your sampson!

good job; I like to fab my own stuff too!

she may be happy with her own shovel, but wait til you buy her a vacuum !

(ps-look out for shovel)

I have already most generously gave her all of my cleaning supplies when she moved in. :laughing7:
