Got out for the day with a couple buds to scout some new land. First stop was a flop but the second field had a decent and untouched site. Picked up a bunch of dandy buttons and a few musket balls as well as a nice knee buckle.

Silver came in the form of a complete spoon with hallmarks. I'm thinking it's a local silversmith due to the lack of hallmarks so will do some research on that.

Find of the day for me is the bucket lister...colonial era trade weight...a first for me! Very happy with that and with the hunt.

Man, I hope I find a sterling spoon or fork some day. Nice Finds!

Was cleaning up the finds and noticed the engraving on the silver spoon. Cleaned the trade weight a bit as well!

paul reveres father apprenticed under him - the 1655 - 1722 one

you might find your weight here
weights

or something close

similar weights seem to date in his time period
mid 1600s to early 1700s
maybe CRUSADER will chime in

by the way - if you look at site that shows gold wedding band he made
that was found by my friend - had it in my hand
sold at
Sothbeys for $30,000

here are pics of John Coney ring - those are my fingers
my pics - wish i had taken better pic of the makers mark

Very Nice!!!! Congrats!!! Silver spoons are always Nice to see!!

So that spoon has some historical provenance attached to it? That is worth figuring out which
maker it was. Nice haul!

Oh man, you got a couple of goodies there Romeo. Please keep us posted on the spoon's maker.

Congrats! I'd say they're both bucket listers.

Fantastic finds everywhere- Congrats!

there could be other J C silversmiths out there
I havent found one yet
Romeo - PLEASE do not try and straighten on your own -
leave as is for now - I would try and find an expert to do it = especially if it proves
to be a "Coney"
my main computer crashed and im using an old 2006
right now which is only giving me addess to about 30% of sites im trying to open
which is making research hard right now but still trying - we need
to find an expert out there to verify
