Greetings fellow TN hunters.
35 degrees today so I bundled up and headed for a site where [according to an old map] an old homestead stood in the 1800s. I talked to the land owner and got permission to hunt.
I had to walk a half mile to get to the spot as the road is no longer there.
I found the spot [about 150 by 150 feet] and it payed off.
It snowed for a while and drizzled but after finding the LC I stuck it out till dark and found the button and misc.
Best luck, Merf

Great detective work & way to brave the elements.

How far did you know to go to find the old homesite without any original landmarks?

Thanks Weasel and South Jersey Don

Don---I printed out an arial view of the area from maps.live.com and then with a ruler scaled off distances from roads that still exist [new map vs old map] There is also a small stream that is shown on both maps. HH

Great research and leg work to find the original site Merf. That largie looks good and might clean up even better if you employ the hot peroxide method. Good job.
