New Spot Turns up some great Civil War Relics !!!!!!!

[Whippetdog]

Ronin and I got together today to search for some Civil War Relics in a new area. It was perfect day with sunny skies and temps in the 40's. AS the pictures show, there was a lot of schrapnel found, some minnies, musket balls, and a few "what is it's". This area was definatly producing today.

Check out the grape shot and the large piece from a canonball. Ronin pulled a trick on me and called me over to his dug whole. All I could see was the round top half af the cannonball that he found, but skillfully placed back in the ground to appear as a whole cannonball. Needless to say I fell for it and my heart skipped a beat. It would have been the first complete cannonball I had ever seen or found while detecting. He got a good laugh. I owe him big time

Almost forgot that Ronin also found a Williams Cleaner. That is cool!

I hope to show some more pictures in the future as we work this area some more.

I know he has it in for me. Makes detecting all the more fun. The shell is cleaning up really nice and I will post it tomorrow after its complete. The 2 canister are perfect. From what I have read they would shoot 27 per load. I would hate to be on the receiving end of that volley.

Yeah, i am sure my face looked like that and more.

As for the research question, we where in the same general area that Ronin has been hunting for awhile. We were just trying some new locations in the same area. He ( Ronin) had done a lot of previuos research on the area.
