New to Metal Detecting, I could use some help...

Okay, sorry for being so stupid. I'll try to find someone in my area to detect with and try learn the sounds. Sorry.

Hedshot56, welcome.
Also, be very careful cleaning your finds. I hope you have many.
Peace

Your not stupid. It is sometimes difficult to convey how to do something when it is best learned thru showing or hearing.
We are looking forward to seeing what all you find! GL. HH!

Just have fun! A detector tells you things in several ways like ID#, screen picture ID and the sound. A solid repeatable sound with a constant ID is usually good. A broken or grumbling sound is usually an alloy, like iron. Just lay some samples on the ground where there is nothing in the ground. This will give you an idea of what some items ID on your detector. Just like a new friend, you have to get to know the detector. Nothing beats experience. Frank...

2 new finds today, only kept 1. First was the one I didn't keep, 3/4 of a high heel shoe. It had a buckle on buried beside it which was the same color. I'm assuming it was the buckle to the shoe. The second find I kept however, I'm almost certain it's the sealing lid to a Mason jar, I say this because I found fragments of the screw on lid and a shard of glass where I dug up the lid. I seem to have a thing for lids, as this is the third one I've found. Here's the picture. The paperclip is there to show size. Also, the reason I kept this was because the white part seemed pretty cool.
I'm getting a lot better at metal detecting and I hope I find more stuff soon.
