Hello! I have been reading and looking at your post here for a couple of weeks now and just love your site. I just started collecting artifacts last year and have really learned a lot from reading your post. I hope to post some pictures and get your imput on some of the things that I have found. ;D

Welcome to the board, Southerngirl...check for paint residue in that round piece...looks like a paint pot to me.

Welcome to the forum Southern Girl. I see some killer finds in your posts above including a really nice Heavy Duty Points and a killer Pee Dee Pentagonal(the one you say is your favorite). It looks like you've got a great start on a collection. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing your pieces with us and good luck on future finds. I look forward to seeing some more.

Dang SG!! You been finding some nice peices there!! Looks like you even stumbled onto to late paleo there too!!! The half nutshell thing is prolly a natural formation, but like I say over and over again, it depends on the context in which it was found. If you found it where you been picking up artifacts, then its probably a small paint/pigment cup. Those things when unbroken have a little lump of yellow, red, and sometimes green mineral in em that were mixed with a lil grease and rubbed on the body for adornment.
BTW, welcome to the forums

Thanks everyone for you comments. The bowl thing is bright yellow inside and it does rub off. Here is a photo of just a tad of what was found around the bowl
