I inherited an old White's 4900 from my Dad, played around with it some until I retired about a year ago. I decided a little metal detecting may be a fun hobby, so I got it out, got a little interested and started to read the various forums, Well one thing lead to the next and ... just bought a new Vaquero.
Seems a "maybe hobby" just got very interesting. So for those of you think you may like to do this, find a friend with decent equipment, borrow it and give it a try... but be prepared to spend a few bucks...you'll get hooked!

:D Welcome to the hobby and forum.

This hobby or obsession is a lot of fun. Many go wrong in thinking they need to make a profit instead of thinking of the fun and adventure of finding something in the ground. Then too one nice find can pay for the detector and have enough left over to buy another. If you have a wife that wonders about you "wasting time," detecting, buy or find her a ring. She'll most likely tell you to go detecting instead of cutting the grass. ;D

Take Care,
Sandman

Congratulaitions on your new Vaquero. Its a great machine and a lot of fun to use. :)
