Kind of excited right now. Just got back from a short hunt at an old park here in Ohio. Just got my ace 250 Friday and am new at this. My 25 year old son went with me. Anyway, we were hunting around this older park when we hit a quarter signal. Had it set in coin mode and about half way up on sensitivity. I guess we were lucky. Dug down 4 inches and out pops this guys class ring of 1986. After that we got another signal close by. Dug that and out pops a 14K gold ring with a big diamond on top. The ring say 14K THGE ESPD LIND. I am heading out in the morning to get an appraisal. I will post pics as soon as I figure out how too. I'm very sorry as I like to see pics, too. Please bear with me as I will try to figure it out. :icon_sunny:

Great finds with your ACE 250, I guess you could say the ACE just keeps going and going and going.

Congrats on the class ring, glad you found the guy. Now you can belong to the Good Guys Club. Returning a
class Ring, PRICELESS. Thanks for being one of the good guys.

Well, i should have kept it. He didn't seem too excited after going to all of the trouble of wasting my time and GAS. As far as the setting, I keep it at 50% on sensitivity,. It was actually in the coin mode and it was reading a dime or quarter. I have definitely got used to the different sounds now. The dull pings get rejected as the higher sounds get dug. Even if it goes back and forth from pull tab to dime. The stronger readings to the right are always quarters (so far) The lower ends are usually junk. Still learning but getting better by the day. I pulled another ring last night that appears to be a diamond ring. This one say 18K but can't make out the rest as my eyes are not great at close range.

No, you did the right thing. Karma will pay you back.. don't worry about it.

While there are a lot of junky things in the lower portion of the readout on the ACE, there are also nickels, and gold jewelery that ring up anywhere from the notch below nickel to the high penny/dime notch. You really do have to dig everything.

Now you got ANOTHER ring already??? Holy smokes man! If it is 18K there's a good chance that diamond is real. Congrats on all these finds!!!

Sorry for my careless post. My son has the camera and we are fighting over the detector >:(. We found it last night and I'll post the pics hopefully today. I need to put it in another new subject. It says 18k and a few more words but I can't make it out. Looks like my wifes diamond ring

I found all 3 of them in an old school playground near a parrallel bar, you know the thing where kids grab hold and hang from them and so on. They were all no more than 12 feet apart.

I agree with Rootmaster, you did the right thing. I had the same thing happen to me again and again. Kids now days don't really appreciate the work that goes into returning a ring. Mom and Dad bought the ring for the kid and he could care less about it. If he would have had to earn the money to buy that class ring, he would have been doing cart wheels when you returned it to him.

I once returned a ring and the lady grabbed the ring and slammed the door in my face. I guess that's life. You meet all kinds in this hobby.,

Again, Thanks for being one of the good guys.

Re: Newbee with ACE 250 hits gold and silver rings 1 foot apart. Updated:found owner

Come on up. I need a partner to hunt with. This field is enough to keep both of us busy for a long time, and I know a bunch more. Going to the local jeweler today. The people who have saw the ring feels it is a diamond. I'm just too busy with my job in front of the computer all day.

Looks like the class ring was the only authentic ring out of the 3. The other 2 were gold plated ,but after going to the local jeweler here in town "NO DIAMONDS" Had me fooled and other novice diamond owners. So I guess the jewelers word is firm. It just looked so real. I guess we all learn as we go, and I for one am not a jewelery kind of guy. I don't even wear or own a wedding band as I am a hard worker and I would trash or lose any kind of ring. The last time I were a ring I almost got my finger burnt off working around batteries :o

Nice finds! though i gotta get a chuckle here, because i never thought i would see someone find a ring from where i went to school I went to Triad High School in 91! Small world indeed

gives me hope that one day i will find a cool ring with my ace.... awesome finds, congrats... HH :icon_sunny: tlc

REALLY!! Where do you live?? Yes it is. That's so cool you recognized the ring. Send me an e-mail and maybe we can get together sometime.

Nice finds! I will never forget my first ring with my Ace 250. Man I miss that machine and detecting. I plan on buying one again very soon once I get back on my feet.
