newbie silver jewelry question

This is my first 'whole' jewelry find. It is a silver cross that I found in the grass in a park about 3 inches down this past Saturday up in Placerville, CA. Anyway, the only mark I could find is on the picture below and I am guessing it has something to do with the purity of the silver used, but I don't know. I think I might be more proud of getting this close up picture to come out clear than the finding the cross! Anyway, any help with what this mark means would be appreciated.

The stamp is a bit off and also a little worn. I believe it stands for .925 which is another marking used for purity of silver and means Sterling. 925 out of 1000 pure silver.
