I remember him in To Kill A Mockingbird with Gregory Peck, and then in True Grit as "Lucky" Ned Pepper, and a year later he was Frank Burns in Mash movie, and of course the Godfather series.

Robert Duvall words and portrayal will be forever etched into great cinematic moments. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" But he was much more than that. He was just a talented actor of the era of actors that is quietly fading away. RIP. Another favorite actor was gene Hackman. Both I thought was under rated by Hollywood as actors of that era. Yet their acting shone as bright as any other Hollywood star.

Watching all these actors pass away reminds me of my own mortality. But their legend lives on in the characters in the movies they portrayed.
