I have to say in the seven months I've been a member here on Tnet that is perhaps the most beautiful and unique piece I've seen listed. Give a shot posting it in the what is it category which will have a lot more lookers. Hope you get your ID.

Okay I will repost it there and see if I get any bites. Thanks!!!!

Neat! Thanks for sharing...

super cool find. looks to me that it says 'In Defense' instead of 'In Defiance'. I believe it's a Canadian (or some province of Canada) Militia buckle. Hope you can find the other piece.

Very cool buckle. Definitely not something I've seen before. Congrats!

That is an AMAZING find. I hope you find out just what and where it came from. Inquiring minds need to know.

I posted this in "What is it" and it was identified. I will update soon! Here is the pic that was given to me from a fellow poster... It is awesome to have all of this international teamwork to solve these mysteries!

Best of luck finding the other half, as it is a nice piece.

I found the other half of a similar tongue, and wreath buckle a year or two ago, the grass hasn't been mowed since, like you I'd like to get my other half.
