I was not able to get out on any major hunts this week with the constant heavy rain and family obligations, but I was able to do a couple short hunts at a nearby old / colonial era site that I have been hitting. Easy signals and shotgun shells targets have dried up, now exploring the iffy signals in the iron patches.

This button was a scratchy deep one way signal that I would never dig except it was right in the middle of the main hot area in the woods.

Interesting back mark maker... I think they were making buttons like this in the 1830s and 1840’s.

Here is the handful of buttons.

A couple interesting tidbits on these buttons:

-First tombac button I have found that came out nice and clean and almost black/gun metal sheen. Usually these are silvery.

-I have only found a couple 4 hole buttons, this one is well marked and easy to see what it was used for.

-The small 2 piece button with fancy has an iron back which I rarely find.

Here are the rest of the finds. The rivet has a small star design and not sure what the pivoting screw mechanism was for, probably drawer pull hardware. (Found the V at a nearby site with some more modern items, only coin this week.)

Good luck out there!
