I collect and restore button accordions.
I Was ordered to tidy up the storage today, so it was a good chance for a group photo.

Ok.. just one accordion joke..

Never leave an accordion in an unlocked car..
..

Why?
..
Because when you come back it will be full of them ;D

No joke John, I endured two years of accordion lessons.

But,"I collect and restore button accordions"...?

What the heck? You have a peculiar hobby/occupation, my friend. :icon_thumright:

My guess is that you were enduring PIANO accordion lessons.
These babys are quite different, and much more fun to play.
It is just a hobby, as is swishing back and forth, a round disc on the end of a stick is ;D
The gold coloured ones at the top of the photo are very popular in Quebec.
Thanks for your comment Likely Guy.

Ever heard of a gabinelli? - coincrazed

Yes.. Gabinellis are popular for Conjunto and sometimes Zydeco music.
They usually have 3 or 4 rows of buttons for that style of playing.

Very cool looking.

Lesson 1. Don't mess with the kid that plays accordian. He's got muscles & endurance from hauling the thing back & forth to school everyday. :D

No way I would polka fun at you. I actually hear them a lot in Corridos and I'm one of the few, well only one actually, in my social circle who listens to zydeco, especially Clifton Chenier. You do a good job at restoration, too.

those are nice. i remember seeing a guy play those things on the lawrence welk show. had to watch it every week with my grandmaw

At one time I was going to have a license frame engraved with "I'm Happy My Parents Were Too Poor To Afford Accordian Lessons." :laughing7:

I wanted to play the piano when I was young - so my parents bought me an accordian. (I didn't get the idiocyncracies of 'the house isn't big enough for a piano).

5 long years of accordian. I even got to meet Lawrence Welk and Myron Floren :laughing7: (my accordian teacher was Myron Floren's teacher and a good friend of his).

Hey, but I can still do a heck of a rendition of "Roll Out the Barrel"

:laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:
