I found this a while back at a 18th century home site. No clue what it might be. It is very heavy and might be lead. Any ideas out there?

Is that an "A" underneath the hole in pic #2? Does it look like it is broken off on the edges? At first, I thought it might be part of a door latch, but need to study on it a bit. Breezie

it does look like an "A" to me also.
