NO! Don't send me your last 13 dollars for Christmas!

Granny calls me and says.
"I'm sending you my last 13.00 dollars for Christmas."

"No Granny, I don't need anything," I say. I don't want the poor old gal's last 13.00 bucks. She insists on sending me her last 13 dollars and won't take no for an answer. Though I knew that I'd sent her 50.00. She doesn't live close by so she put it in the mail.

And here's her last 13.00 bucks.

Makes ya wonder what's she's been giving the paperboy every other week. A buddy of mine works at a gas station that sits just outside the entrance to local retirement home. He regularly get old silver in his drawer at work. Kinda cool, but kinda sad.

My aunt used to send my brothers and I five dimes taped in our birthday cards every year.

When I was in high school, a long, long, long time ago, I worked as a cashier in a grocery store. Granny came in with her daughter and bought groceries, she paid the bill with 8 Morgan silver dollars. As I was drooling and mentally counting up the money in my wallet to be sure I had enough to make the exchange with the cash register, the daughter snatched them out of my hand, and scolded her mother. What could I say?!? I hope her kids didn't spend them for candy at the store.

That same job did yield a couple thousand wheat pennies that I still have and a couple of boys came in and bought a candy bar with a very black buffalo nickel, (I said it was a long time ago). I asked where they got it from and they said the dirt parking lot out side. It turned out to be a 1913. Just the night before, I had been looking in a coin book and a 1913 nickel was worth $50,000. Of course I thought I had just found one Only thing was the rare one was a V nickel and this was the later buffalo. The joys of treasure hunting.

Granny gave you a GREAT Christmas present. She knows you will take good care of them.

As a grandfather 5 times over, I think it would be very nice, & highly appreciated, if you would go by & take GM to lunch. Or if she's not mobile, buy lunch & take it to her & spend a coupla hours with her.

Obviously, she likes you. Time spent with you will give her a smile & a wonderful "Thank You"!

That is very cool. I see she really didn't send you her last 13 dollars. My Grandfather and my wife's grandfather passed on Morgan dollars to us. We only got one from each though.

How old is she ? I ask because being a jewel she is also a history book !
