Got out today after working all night last night and was determined to hunt some yards I have been wanting to hunt. Well long story short I got several No's then got a yes from this nice elderly lady living in a 100+ year old house. Worked the yard for 3 hours and found 2 Mercs 1919 and 1941 ( first silver for the year } plus 9 wheats ranging from 1916 to 1950. Also found this cute little ring and a couple bucks in clad. Felt good to yard hunt, but I do love hunting foundations best, yards are sorta like immediate gratification for me. Hopefully tomorrow I can hit the old school foundation if these storms will just hold off. My wife is working on getting us a house site to hunt also :icon_sunny:
Thanks for looking in on my finds for the day, Ray

sweet man. Good work for an after work hunt.

Congrats on the wilver! I'm still looking for my first. HH

Congrats on your first silver for the year...The winged liberty is one pretty coin...and looks better when you pull it out the ground. Hope you find many more.

nice finds. I'm curious as to whether or not you took some time to show the lady of the house your finds and to see if she had any idea as to who might have lost what... the elderly are disappearing and they have some history that we can only imagine.

hey Thanks, I always speak with the owners if possible, most certainly the elderly becouse they are the passers of knowledge. Usually when I show my finds they look at me with a look like thats it :o
the School foundation was from having a pleasent conversation with a farmer while detecting his property, pays off in more ways than one to take time to chat it up with owners.
Happy Hunting, Ray

Ray , You are an inspiration to me ! It takes some confidence and courage to ask permission from folks

you dont know . I know there are many wonderful coins out there for those who are willing to take a risk

and ask ! I will follow your example and ask property owners this year. Nice mercs !!!

Love your mercs! Lots of them being found this past week. Congrats.

Great finds! I love finding silver dimes and yours are beautiful! It's nice that your wife is active with you & the hobby! A married couple with a couple of detectors can't be beat!

Old yards can't be beat! Years ago (1982), my Dad and I detected my Grandfathers old farm home (large home, lots of kids!), we thought we'd found all the silver to be found...until I went back in 2003 and really cleaned er up! I bet there's still silver there and I hope I can introduce my new X-70 to the yard this summer. The farm is now owned by my 2nd cousin and they're good people...permission shouldn't be a problem.

SIlverfinder, you did well

Than God for the older folks we meet. . . they offer
a wealth of knowledge when you take the time to listen.

I would much rather ask for permission from someone their age

Nice mercs, congrats. I'm always happy to see those little gems staring back at me in the hole.

Good goodies.
