Yep, had another one of those. Hit a house from the 1890ish timeframe on a random permission. I usually ask older homes but I'll swing anything...

So after I got permission we go out to the side and there were pock marks everywhere. Probably about a month old and sloppy. Yep, some J.O decided to sneak into his yard and detected without permission. Well, if you're in the Maplewood area and have a habit of trespassing, here's what you missed: 3 silver dimes ('29, '56, '57), 1937 KG6 (yep) 1/2 penny and penny. Also a rosette(?), a silver ring, and a tool tag. Meager finds but it was fun and put me at 70 silver coins since the new year.

It's a bummer to know it was raided. It's also a bummer that this is the third time it's happened to me. Trespassing must be more common than I suspected. Does anyone else have this happen? Sheez

Happy Hunting

Wow some people are flat out effin scumbags!, hope they see my comment whoever they are

But on a positive at least you got some good finds those losers missed!

Nice finds! Seems to happen a lot down here. I actually door knocked another detectorist home, he admitted to hunting a yard (his next door neighbor) when they weren't home! It pissed me off so much, that when he offered to hunt with me, I told him "I don't hunt with effing thieves!"

Yep. There's a slew of people who figure land that is not watched is free for the taking. You see it here first hand and by report, like you. And then everybody scratches their head wondering why parks in town are off limits and people refuse to allow permissions. You called it: J.O. Only you left out the phrase" self-righteous". Sad thing is while I really enjoy this hobby I absolutely get why we get locked out.

Yep, those effing guys. Dunno how they enjoy anything they find. I felt bad for the old man. He looked so confused when I told him somebody been there

Nice job ! Did you let the landowner know, so you dont get blamed for the sloppy holes ?

Yep, he walked out there and saw them with me. I filled them in so his yard was back to normal. Not only was that the right thing to do, it also counts as detectin' karma! Got a 1750's house I'm awaiting a reply for....

I went to a permission a couple of weeks ago, and the place had holes all over it, they were not that sloppy, but noticeable. Supposedly nobody had hunted it, per the owner. The only coins I found were a few Wheaties, and they were covered with nails, so I am not surprised that they were missed. I was a bit bummed to say the least.

Just proves your the better person and detectorist. Nice finds!

The trespassers had better be careful in some parts of the country that will get you a bullet.

Good on the recoveries.

Here's something to ponder, a buddy would hunt a spot, then it was like that spot became very popular. He realized that it was car that attracted the attention of the competition and they would spot the car then put it together that the area or spot had finds. He changed the ride and the problem went with it also, maybe you're getting well known by some and it's the same results.

tresspassers tend to hit hard and fast --normally their high grade silver hunting -- they leave their holes open because they want to hit it and get gone ..no time to cover their holes , and they don't give a crap cuz they do not plan to return and haven't got permission anyway so who cares if they leave holes that piss off the landowner?--- scumbags like that ruin it for decent detector folks.

Lol. There may be something to that! Maybe I need to loose the cell phone so I can't be tracked.

That's a shame. They could have at least bought that landowner a drink before they screwed him. Down South you have to be double crazy with all the gun toting. How old was the property?

Amazing finds - that 1929 Mercury is a beauty. 70 silver for the year is awesome - especially in NJ where we've had like 5 weeks to dig. I'm at 4!
