These tiny owls are known to take down prey two to three times their size.

This one has a junco that it caught at our bird feeder.

I love owls. We have a lot of Barred owls,I truly enjoy their hoots late in the evening. Totally fearless.
We also have Barred owls. Sometimes come up right by the house. Love me some Barred owl.

We have the Barred- who cooks for me hoot.
Only saw the snowy owl once, driving one night and one was having dinner on the road. My bother stated that's a sight we never will see again. Went around the curve on the mountain pass, there was it mate. Great memory.

Great encounter and glad you got the opportunity to capture a great shot of that wonderful and vicious little guy.
All the species of owls I,ve encountered are absolutely fearless, even the little screech owl.I got a soft spot for fearless!
