Cleaned it up a bit. Appears to be a nose cap similar to the one in the picture.

What should I do with it? Is there a market for these? Do people buy these parts to put old muskets together?

Very cool find and the first time I've seen something like this posted... wondering if a find like that should be cleaned?.... but congratulations are definitely in order! 👍

It is not in good enough condition for someone who needed one for a gun, but would look great in a display of Civil War artifacts!
