Nice find... it's good to see some New Jersy material... I've popped a few Florida points out of the ground while metal detecting myself... It's always a nice surprise.
Yours looks like it would be called an "Orient" aka: "Fishtail" in your area.. A transitional archaic/ woodland point 3,200-2,500 yrs . old

Thanks everyone, it was a nice surprise. Thanks for the info Gatorboy. I was hoping some one like you would offer some details. It's just amazing to think some Native American held this in his or her hands so long ago. I wonder if they hunted for fish with it. Or did they shoot birds and or other small game with it. I found it on LBI.

Probably small game and one more little tidbit of info is that it would have been attached to a shaft and thrown with the use of an atlatl.
The atlatl was used for thousands of years before the bow and arrow

Well done! Arrowheads have to be found with the eyes, not an easy task even when you're looking for them.

Thanks again guys. I haven't found anything with my excal in months so it was some sweet relief to a very long metal detecting dry spell. And yes, Boatload that was me that found the brass nail. That was the last good thing I found.

Kid found a spear tip shaped head last week it was in the paper. Twice as long as mine. Princeton professor said it was jasper and it was 10,000 years old. It's the same color as mine and the kid found it right were I found mine.
