Not Much Today-Just A Printing Plate

Got out for a few hr. today at an old oil boom town. Wound up with a few pieces of junk and a printing plate. It's in pretty bad shape with corrosion but after washing it off and playing with Paint, was able to get a bit of it to show. I saw the name Hawkins but don't know just who that might be. I do know some of the Hawkins here in the county. Trying a couple different methods and resizing. Thanks for looking.

I don't know that much about printing plates, but something tells me there is a piece of the puzzle missing.

The text runs off the sides of the plate, and it's also not in mirror image like "i think" it should be.

What am I missing here?

BTW: Almost looks like the 10 Commandments tablet at first glance! Cool Find.

It's not in mirror image as I took the pic and did a horizonal image flip. I also tried inverting colors to try and bring out the printing. I'd say it's like a sheet of a newspaper which usually has several columns on the page.

Ahh, that makes sense. Guess I should have thought of that one, but there was nothing else in the picture to give it away.

I always find holes of rust and he does find the cool and unusual, shucks I dont even find pull tabs any more, oh well I was sitting on the porch with a mirror trying to read it ! I hope he'll be able to get something off it I love the old news stories!

My son and I have found 3 or 4 of these printing plates at my moms. Each one had a different "story". It's fun to try to put the story together. Here is one of them:
