Not my best seated half, but I'll take it.

Spent about four hours today detecting between thunderstorms. Got a little wet, but who cares. Hunted a real trashy area where I had managed to pluck some silver before. After digging an assortment of junk and clad pieces, I finally got a real good silver signal at about 9 inches deep. With perspiration pouring off my face, I finally dug up a nice big bottle cap. Bummer! I got an identical signal about 5 feet away. This one was only 5 inches deep. My trusty Garret pinpointer located a big silver piece this time. Turned out to be an 1874 seated liberty half. Not in real good shape, but like I said, I'll definitely take it.

Thanks for looking.

Awesome half , never found one of those but hope to.:icon_thumleft:

Everything on the coin is very readable. That's a good plus! WTG!

an awesome find in any condition

1874 I'm sure, But still a cool find...............HH

Great half !!!!not bad shape at all.Congrats to you !!

Mari..., O.K. So I corrected it, wise-a--. Thanks for nothing.

Bob

very nice! so it's not your best seated half? You've found others?

Testing, Yes, I've found 3 other seated halves.

Bob

That's better than any seated half I've ever dug, but then again I've never dug one :laughing7:

Nice find! That's better than any seated coin I've ever dug, because I have found none. I have been present for two seated and one capped bust, but never found one of my own.

A half in any condition is always wonderful. I have been fortunate enough to have found 4 halves already this year (3 walkers and one Franklin), So I know the excitement of big silver in the hole.

A Seated Half is Great! One in that condition means a lot of miles and history. I am sure it passed through a lot of different hands throughout the years. Very nice find, Way to go!

congrats Bob!! nice to see you again!

Bob, you are the half seated champion

Great find! I've only ever dug two of them, and one was badly damaged by someone while it was in circulation.

Cheers,

Buckles
