I would think it was a fancy rosette of some type. Might be just my imaginary thinking here, but if you think of fancy script lettering. ES3?

More on the site where found...house was pre 1853 as it was on map. Huge hurricane in 1938 wiped the area and so many targets do seem like it. One of my first sites that doesn't seem to be picked seeing first target was a silver spoon.

I am guessing it isn't horse tack, but rather off of a purse or piece of leather luggage.

Deus 1. I bought not knowing deus 11 was coming a month later. But honestly very happy with it. Thanks for the reply
