Metal Detecting
I have been running out of new places to hunt, but it has been over two weeks and yesterday I just HAD to go.

I went to a well hunted neighborhood park, which dates back to the 40s'. I forgot my pinpointer so I spent a couple of hours using my 3" screwdriver to pop up coins. I was trying to concentrate on the higher tones, but ended up digging a few pennies that were shallow.

Toward one end of the park, I dug the St. Christopher's Medal. On the back it reads .925. A first for me. This has been "loosely" on my bucket list to find. Really made my day and I felt better after striking out the last 4 places that I had been.

Today, I went to the same area and squeezed out a 1920 Mercury dime. The first silver coin for me in a while.

Awesome on your silver finds and firsts! HH!

Start looking at old maps from your area and keeping a keen eye on things that looks out of place in wooded areas. Never know when you will stumple upon great potential.

nice finds pointman!

Not too bad for a last minute fix. I understand that urge to have to detect. It's super addicting and always has been. I find myself planning my next trip within hours of returning from one.

I know whata mean. When I don't do well, I want to go back to make up for it, and when I do well I can't get enough. Kind of an endless loop. We can call this problem "metal detecting infinity" or something. There is no solution but to go back for more or die trying.

It's still silver, the St. Christopher is pretty cool, the Mercury dime is a great find too!
