Not Thrilling, but Unexpected

I was taking my dog for a walk in an area we'd never been to before. Took the XP Deus with me, although I doubted I'd find anything at all. Found this hoe head in the middle of a heavily wooded area on an embankment near a stream. About 4" deep and no farms in the immediate area. Puzzling more than anything else.

You never know who has touched that land. Not sure where you are, but I had ancestors in Georgia VT, who moved west into New York in the 1790s. Ran the first ferries across Lake Champlain.
