Not to bad for 2 hours of diggin'

I got to dig at my jobsite for about 2 hours after work today. I Md'd the site we are getting ready to clear in the '70's. The best finds I got there was a baby US boxplate and a couple union spurs. The property belongs to a small airport now has not been dug in a good while. It's along a small creek and in the 70's there were oak trees 3 and 4 feet in diameter. In the 80's the trees were taken out and the stumps removed We are to start stripping the topsoil on monday so I don't know how much more I'll get to dig it. I can only go on days we work. I plan on getting up there early Monday morning and dig an hour or two before we start work. Today I dug a Navy cuff, an eagle button and badly eaten Indian head penny, a ringtail sharps, 6 Joslyn carbines, 3 sharps and 5 .44 sages. I also got 5 iron buckles and some melted lead and a few other odds and ends. Nothing really great but not to bad for 2 hours

Those are excellent finds. I hope you get a chance to hit that place hard before it is stripped. :'(

Might be worth getting up Super Early on a workday for.

Thanks BB. I plan on getting there in the morning early and try to dig at least an hour before we work. Actually I'm hoping it will rain like heck so we can't work and I can dig it all day tomorrow. :laughing7: The only reason I didn't stay longer on Sat. is we go to church on Sat. evenings. If not for that I would have been out there all night or until security told me to leave.

Not bad at all, vayank! :icon_thumright: Glad you're out there saving history. Good luck on future hunts.

Around here that would be "not too bad for a month". :laughing7:

Looks like a great spot you've found there.

VY, is the soil where you primarily hunt highly mineralized like Brandy Station? Those hot rocks there drive me nuts. HH, Quindy.

That was a great 2 hrs. It is a shame how allot of the NVA sites are getting cleared out quick or can't not even get close to them anymore. Pound it while you can!

Thanks guys.
Quindy, The soil in the spots I usually dig are mineralized but for the most part not as bad as Brandy. That is some of the wosrt ground on earth. Some fo the old mahcines wouldn't pick up a quarter lying on top of the ground. The soil at the site I'm digging now isn't to bad. Not nice to the brass though :'(
I dug before and after work today and am getting ready to post my goodies
