Great Seal button, so it has to be from the 1900's, probably WWI era.

It is a Great Seal Military button that began use in 1902. It is still in use today, but since yours was dug, chances are it was WW1 or WW11. There were some differences like the back mark (makers mark) that can help you narrow it down to the relative time period or war.
