Ever wonder why they call them the "Rocky Mountains?"

Well when I first moved to Leadville, Colorado back in 1977, I bought this old 1965 IH scout to go four wheeling on all the back roads. One time I had a buddy with me and we headed up a road dang near to timber line. That old road was pretty washed out and was nothing, but big boulders to climb over. I said to that guy dang! you got a lot of rocks in these mountains. He then said, "Well Yeah" !!!, that's why they're called the Rocky Mountains.
