Notice to Clearwater Beach Hunters

Saw surveyors today at the beach. They told me Clearwater Beach will be renurished July!! Start crying now, I did. They are pumping in Sand Key right now.

The 2012 Sand Key Nourishment Project schedule was last updated on
June 6th. clearwater Beach is still projected to be completed on July
the 6th.By that time they will have made it down to Belleair Beach.
By the estimated completion time of December 9, 2012, the other
affected beaches will be Indian Rocks, Indian Shores, Redington Shores
and North Redington Beach. Belleair Shore is not included (breakwater ?).
The active beach construction area (±1000 feet long) will of course be
closed to the public. Swing while you still can!

The latest data has no reports/plans to re nourish cwb. It's started at the pass and is headed south.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I sympathize with you. St. Augustine Inlet is being dredged and the sand is being pumped onto Anastasia Island (south of ASP to A Street). The current progress is even with the pier. The old sand is underneath approx. 15 - 20 feet of sand.

DewGuru is correct, however according to the Pinellas County Goverments map, nourishment starts from about 1310 Gulf Blvd in Clearwater (R56) to 1900 Gulf Blvd in Belleair Beach (R66) and is listed as Clearwater Beach...go figure...


In response to Seeker41 for 2012 - 2013 there are currently fifty-five beach restoration and nourishment projects. This
includes new projects including design and/or feasibility studies, post-construction projects, regional
monitoring projects and of course projects that both have and have not procured funding. The
picture below represents (36) active projects...
