I don't find many buttons with any design, and fewer military so I was happy to see this fellow show up even though the back is missing. Targets getting pretty thin on this site, then again I thought I had it cleaned out long ago so....I guess there could be something left there yet.

And this mix of stuff came from yesterday. A bale seal, can't make out what it says. A decent small crotal with the wire still on it, first ever for that. A couple of tombacs, I did not break the 30 mm one the other piece was not to be found, and a NS 1 P token the other side of which is toast. The bell collection is really growing this year with 8 found so far. Copper count is 12.

I like your finds, the harp is intact and the little bell is nice, is it marked with it's size? It looks like a zero size!
I haven't seen that pattern of militia button before, it's an interesting one as well.

Not bad at all! All targets I'd be happy to dig every time out!

Neat finds HH

Really nice finds there Rick. That NS button is a rare find indeed.

Thanks mr. Horse,

The bell is not marked with a size that I can see. It measures 1 1/16 most are 1 3/16, and I found a larger one this year 1 7/16

Guess who found a similar button in 2010, and it was in better condition.

The button looks good to me8-)

Excellent score on the militia button

Does yours have a marked back? It's a great find by the way.

The local stuff can often be harder to find so always good crossing one off the list. There's one here IH recently found that I have been chasing for 10 years. We know of three found so far.

Have you been able to get a time frame? Looks like it would date early Victorian.

Yep...it's early to mid Victorian...1850s.

Cool, a Canadian Civil War button. ;)
Very nice rarely seen militia
Congrats on your finds from the 'hunted out' site!
I've been going over one of my old favorites with a different detector and some good results :occasion14:
Gotta love them.. HH, Herbie.
