So......I snuck in another "walk" when ole man winter wasn't watching.
It was right cold out there, the wind chill made it a lil worse. But, I'd dressed
for -50 degrees. LOL I wasn't taking any pushes. ;)

So, I chose a favorite clad factory, decided to start in a tot-lot. I got there,
turned on the machine, tuned, ground balanced, then, as I always do
on a tot-lot, I de-tuned 2 levels below max.

I walked about 10 steps & this was my very first hit:

Marked and tests at 10k.

I have to admit, I was sorely tempted to just say, "Nuff said!" and go back home!
Nowhere to go from "UP". LOL

Of course, I stayed a couple hours, found just a couple coins, but I was floating through
the whole rest of the walk. :)

I love when this happens, a recent drop of an old coin.
Not very often I can add a wheatie in this kind of shape.

Also, HE was in a rare mood today. Not only did He lead me
over this ring but the very next thing I found was that hilarious
smiley face thing. I guess he was showing me what I was looking like! :)

Anyway, if you do go out there, bundle up!!

It's beginning to ICE up out there! LOL

Thanks for peeking!

That is awesome! Its like finding the ring twice!

Ice is nice surrounded by gold of any karat!

Umm,.....i hope you put enough food and water in the saftey deposit box for Blingie till your next visit! He will not easily part with that.

Glad you are testing your finds, its like a little icing on the cake.
And that is some good sized icing!

In a tot lot no less....you give me hope i will discover one. :)

Bling!! Can't go wrong with it.

Congrats on the gold!!!!!!!!!! Hope the diamonds are real! Merry Christmas.

on a tot-lot, I de-tuned 2 levels below max. [/QUOTE]

Whadi, When you say "detuned" what are you referring to? Importantly, why?

Nice frozen digs! Congratz

When I say de-tune, I mean that I lower sensitivity by two notches. I usually run my machine wide open, no discrimination and in pro-mode. This really isn't to make me any more efficient but rather, just the opposite. You see, it's a personal preference. When I'm on a tot-lot I'm not looking to dig deep. I just don't like digging large holes in a playground, (nor do I like explaining to unknowing moms & dads that I'm not hurting a thing if I do.) I am usually hunting the same old tot-lots from time to time, so, I'm really just re-cleaning fresh drops. ;)

One other thing I do. If there is a tot-lot where I'm hunting I will always make a special effort to give it a cursory cleaning. Looking for treasures, of course, but mostly removing any iron/steel/aluminum shrapnel I find there. Hopefully, making the place safer for the kids.

Thanks for the comment and I hope my answer wasn't too wordy. ;) LOL

"Thanks for the comment and I hope my answer wasn't too wordy." Nope! Great answer to a newb question. I appreciate your response.

There sometimes is a black tarpaper type underlayment of somekind that pervents weeds from growing, i don't dig past that, so its only the woodchips i dig, they are usually about 6" deep in most places. So if the item is below the barrier its remains there.

Nice work....Always dig that first target !

WOW that is a beauty. What tot was toting such ice?

Tot-mom most likely.
