I got out for a little hunt and didn't have much luck. The only saving grace was a super tarnished 1944 silver quarter. I had to look twice when it popped out and the pics are after a good hot water scrub. You couldn't even really make it out much before that. HaHa

No cleaning required. Sometimes patina can be a thing of beauty.

It was on a slight hill slope in a big old yard not close to water. I found it strange to be that dark too. A year or so ago i found a 1940's silver 5o cent very close to it and it wasn't near that dark.

Whats strange is you can get 2 silver coins from the same period with the same silver content in the same field & 1 will be black & they other as new. Some things are not easily explained, but they happen all the time.
