The Bondi Heads Cliff Carvings....
What do these strange out of place carvings represent? What do they mean? Who left them? Whalers? Pirates? Spanish? Portuguese? Dutch? 20140705_135328.jpg 20140705_135346.jpg 20140705_135706.jpg 20140705_135708.jpg 20140705_135714.jpg

And here is a photo: fullsizeoutput_649.jpeg

Although black and white, the funnel appears to be a dark colour, which may indicate it was red.

Hello Phoenix. Yes there are a few differwnt dipictions of the funnel colour. There where also 3 different seydlitz vessles. 1 a battle ship and 2 mail steamers. My research has proven to me the Seydlitz does not fit in with the Ballina treasure story as i have records from germany saying the straight voyage to chile. No stoppage on the north coast. But in saying that..the story does have a lot of facts in it. So it can be presumed that some truth lies in a hidde cache somewhere.

I've been looking into the bondi heads cliff carvings and i can't seem to find anything. The most confusing part is the WO i have no idea what that could be.

Hi Marticus good thread
I've been looking into the bondi heads cliff carvings and i can't seem to find anything. The most confusing part is the WO i have no idea what that could be.
I have been there a few times also. My belief is there may have been a wreck off shore at some point of old prior to major settlement. It could have been french or dutch. Some have also thought it may be from early whalers. I think if a boat could anchor in calm waters off the point and the area be dived on it may yeild up some more answers.
One of the main reasons i beleive the site is real and old. Is old newspapers mention the site. Also the council placed a fence around site but do not recarve the inscriptions however they do recarve the near by aboriginal carvings.

My interpretation on the WO is a distress sign. Some versions sort of translate to need engineer on this location. I.e with the picture of the upturned vessel make one beleive damage may have occured and help required.
