Well had a little time to detect, so went out to the trime foundation. We didn't find much the last time there, but it's a new year. I got 4 signals in 3 hours but I couldn't be happier. First signal about 70 yards from the foundation, is a choppy 82. I dig it and out pops a ny militia plate. I got a ny militia button last year. I think this is a war of 1812 plate. I could not find the same thing on the Webb, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks for looking. IMG_0292.webpIMG_0291.webp

No help here but congrats on a great find

That is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Congratulations!!! :notworthy:

Killer belt plate. Look at Scrappy's, it's on the banner now. It's got cannons just like yours does. Yours might be an artillerist belt plate also... or I might not know what I am talking about. Either way congrats sir!

Mine has the same design, but the plate is not square. It also has a border around it.

That Militia plate is one cool find. Congrats.

That date range was my original thought. Many of the order books attribute these style plates to the War of 1812, but many now believe most were manufactured 1820-1840.

To the OP. Excellent find and the condition/restoration is incredible for a dug buckle!!
Thank, I was just looking at Hanover site. I brushed it off with a tooth brush, that's all. (Then I put the wife's tooth brush back). She'll never know.

Man what a pretty plate!
