I've been doing that for years here in Ann Arbor and I've even kept good records. The past three years I have found $300+ in change and lots of silver and gold. I sent a good part off to the refiner during the run up, so I don't know exactly how much, but I have found a thick gold chain, tiffany earrings, heavy sterling pins. Dozens of tiny silver items, 1 gold earring with diamond chip, lots of tiny studs missing stones, about half a dozen "diamonds," and wads of bills. Here is a picture of my finds from only last month that I have on hand (I normally throw the junk stuff away)



If I ever got down and dirty like this guy, there would be a whole bunch more where that came from. I've made some similar posts on the "I can't believe my eyes" forum here if you are slightly interested in my exploits

everyone hits parks, tot lots, old churches and schools, foundations, etc in the old towns.... I have a friend who hits the area of grass between the sidewalk and the road down the main streets of old towns and he makes AMAZING finds! No permission is needed either, since it's public property. There's always a new spot to hunt for treasure... you just have to think it up!

We don't have sidewalks where I live! Darn! No street lights, traffic lights or many paved roads either. I love living here!
